Kuwali extends Mozambique deal amid transfer fee dispute
Former Blue Eagles forward Schumacher Kuwali has extended his contract with Mozambican top-flight league side AD Vilankulo by a year amid an unresolved transfer fee dispute between the Mozambican side and his former club Blue Eagles FC.
The Mozambican side announced the extension after being impressed with the player’s performance last season in which he scored six goals and provided four assists.

His notable contributions included scoring his second goal for the team in a 2-2 away draw against Ferroviário de Maputo.
Kuwali was initially signed on a six-month deal,.
AD Vilankulo finished seventh in the 14-team league.
In an interview on Thursday, Kuwali expressed optimism of an improved performance in the upcoming season.
He said: “It feels good to be given another chance. I did well last season by scoring six goals and I will continue from where I left so that I should help the team win the league in the 2026 season.”
However, the player’s contract extension comes amid an unresolved transfer fee issue between AD Vilankulo and Eagles.
The Malawi Police Service club reported AD Vilankulo to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in October 2025 over the alleged non-payment of transfer dues for their former captain.
The Lilongwe-based side claimed that the Mozambican club ceased communication immediately after Kuwali’s medical clearance and has failed to settle the transfer fee balance.
In their official letter to CAF, sent through the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and copied to the Football Federation of Mozambique, Eagles highlighted potential breaches of international transfer regulations.
The club said Vilankulo never requested the player’s loan transfer via the Fofa Connect and Transfer Matching System (TMS) before the international transfer window closed.
Despite failing to honour the agreed fee, Eagles say AD Vilankulo continue to feature the player.
Eagles chief administration officer Muhammed Alli said they are surprised that FAM is yet to resolve the matter and the club has even extended the deal .
“As Blue Eagles FC, we never issued a written clearance letter or accepted any transfer request. Sadly, he has gone on to extend the contract when our previous concern has not yet been resolved,” he said in a statement.
Alli added that the club is disappointed with FAM’s failure to act on the matter.
But FAM club licensing manager Clement Kafwafwa said they have taken up the matter with relevant stakeholders.
“We are aware of the matter and we are following up so that we should provide proper guidance on the way forward at an appropriate time,” he said.
